COMPLETING STUDY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
All below information is taken from Griffith University Student Support website.
Congratulations on making it to your final semester!
As you start this semester, it is very important that you verify that you are on track to graduate. You will need to check your student email, the Griffith Portal and the Graduations at Griffith website throughout the semester to make sure Griffith is aware that you are completing your studies. It is extremely important that you respond promptly to any graduate communications as any delays could prevent you from graduating on time.
Program advice - are you on track to graduate?
- Check your Degree Requirements and Program Structure
- Talk to your Program Convenor
- Contact Student Administration (undergarudate) or the Graduate Student Centre (postgraduate)
Further information is also available at the Graduations website.
Returning Home
Just as you had to prepare for your arrival here in Australia, there are many things to do in order to prepare for returning home. We recommend that you view the following links for some information that helps to explain how you may be feeling and what you can do get through the process of returning home more smoothly.
Strategies for Coping with "Reverse Cultural Adjustment"
- Acknowledge changes in yourself resulting from your overseas experience.
- Accept that it may take time to get used to the way of life back in your home country.
- Spend time getting to know your family and friends at home again and be sensitive to other people’s feelings.
- Educate your family about the “W” curve and reverse cultural adjustment.
- Join the Alumni Association so the University can keep in touch with you, and join the Alumni chapter in your home country.
- Write or email friends in Australia so the past couple of years won’t seem like a dream.
- Seek out other English speakers at home, so you can share your experiences in English.
- Arrange to meet with fellow students who were studying with you at the Gold Coast to share your reverse adjustment experiences.
- Set new goals and challenges for the future – set a new path for yourself.
- Take time to reflect on your experience before your life gets too busy again.
- Above all, be flexible, keep your sense of humour and don’t do too much too quickly.
